3.7 Technical Considerations for June 2012 Patch Release

The following technical considerations or new features apply to the June 2012 Patch Release for Operations Center version 5.0:

3.7.1 Operations Center Server Installation and Configuration

The following sections detail considerations that apply to the installation and configuration of the Operations Center server:

Alarm Filters

The “is” comparison option on Alarm Filters is not working properly.

Algorithms

The algorithm Band command configured with invert="yes" is not working properly.

Remote Container Connections

Duplicate remotecontainer connections are created on non-master Operations Server clients in a cluster environment.

3.7.2 Adapter Considerations

Delete IBM Tivoli Application Dependency Discovery Manager (TADDM) Adapters Before Patch Installation

The IBM Tivoli Application Dependency Discovery Manager 7.1.2 adapter has been renamed to IBM Tivoli Application Dependency Discovery Manager 7.x.

IMPORTANT:Delete any existing TADDM adapters before applying the June 2012 patch or errors will occur. Before deleting the adapters, take note of the exact adapter name. After the patch is installed, recreate the TADDM adapters using the same adapter names as before to preserve any element links, SLA and SCM settings/data.

Adapter Requirements for Upgrading to NetIQ Cloud Manager 2.0

If upgrading from NetIQ (formerly Novell) Cloud Manager version 1.0 to version 2.0, it is necessary to delete any existing Cloud Manager adapters and recreate them after upgrade. Before deleting existing adapters, you can note the adapter’s configuration settings so that recreating is easy.

Integrating to Microsoft System Center Operations Manager (SCOM) No Longer Requires SCOM Library Files

It is no longer necessary to copy the EZJcomLib18 and JScomIntegrationHelper library files to the System32 and SysWOW64 directories in order to integrate to SCOM.

When upgrading to Operations Center 5.0 May 2012 Patch Release, we recommend deleting the EZJcomLib18.dll and JScomIntegrationHelper.dll files from your C:\Windows\System32 and C:\Windows\SysWOW64 (on Windows 64-bit Server only) directories.

3.7.3 AppManager Operations Portal

Installing and Upgrading the AppManager Operations Portal

If you are installing AppManager Operations Portal, note that installation instructions have changed from previous releases, see Installing and Configuring the AppManager Operations Portal in the NetIQ AppManager Operations 5.0 Portal Getting Started Guide.

If you have AppManager Operations Portal already installed, additional steps are required after patch installation to upgrade Control Center configurations and configure pre-existing adapters. For more information, see Upgrading the AppManager Operations Portal in the NetIQ AppManager Operations 5.0 Portal Getting Started Guide.

AppManager Control Center Service Map Shapes in Operations Center

Operations Center now implements and renders all service map shapes including rectangles, rounded rectangles, comment text and link properties (label, color and line style) that were not previously supported. For more information, see the NetIQ AppManager Operations 5.0 Portal Getting Started Guide.

AppManager Control Center Service Maps Rendering Issues in Operations Center

Minor differences might exist when using custom colors for Service Map elements or applying multiple attributes on labels. Some fonts might not render correctly in all platforms resulting in incorrect font substitutions or word wrapping issues. For more information, see Technical Considerations in the NetIQ AppManager Operations 5.0 Portal Getting Started Guide.

3.7.4 Dashboard

Dashboard Synchronization: Groups with numeric-only names cannot synchronized with the Operations Center server.

Layout Portlet: Background color is not displayed if layout portlet is configured to use Flash.

Performance Portlet: When charting bar and line charts together, the data point details pop-up is not available.

Performance Portlet: The "Constrain size to width/height" configuration option for pie charts does not work properly.

3.7.5 Configuration Management System (CMS)

In Operations Center Configuration Management System, the default memory usage limits for producers and consumers have been increased from 64 MB to 256 MB.
