NetIQ eDirectory 9.2 SP4 Release Notes

NetIQ eDirectory 9.2 SP4 resolves several previous issues. Many of these improvements were made in direct response to suggestions from our customers. We thank you for your time and valuable input. 1.0 What’s New?

eDirectory 9.2 SP4 provides the following fixes in this release:

1.1 Updates for the eDirectory Docker Containers

We are shipping a preview version of Docker Container-based deployment with eDirectory 9.2 SP4 for customers to use and provide feedback. Customers wishing to deploy in production will be supported only with a Professional Services engagement. For more information, see Deploying eDirectory Using Docker Container in the eDirectory Installation Guide.

1.2 Operating System Support

In addition to the platforms supported in previous releases of eDirectory, this release adds support for the following operating system:

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 8.3

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7.9

1.3 Updates for Dependent Components

This release adds support for the following third party components:

  • OpenLDAP SDK 2.4.54

  • Net-snmp 5.9

  • OpenSSL 1.0.2x

1.4 Fixed Issues

eDirectory 9.2 SP4 includes the following software fixes that resolve several previous issues:

Resolved Security Vulnerability

This version of eDirectory resolves CVE-2021-22503.

The LDAP Persistent Connections Fail with an Error Message

Issue: The LDAP persistent connections might fail sometimes with transport failure (-625)error message. (Defect 235441)

eDirectory Crashes While Performing Search Operation for cn=monitor on the CompareJSONStrings

Fix: This version of eDirectory does not crash while performing search operation for cn=monitor. (Defect 267100)

eDirectory Crashes Due to NMAS Operations

Issue: eDirectory crashes while performing NMAS operations after enabling the CEF auditing module. (Defect 269019)

eDirectory Crashes While Logging Into the Identity Applications

Fix: This version of eDirectory does not crash anymore when the user logs into the Identity Applications server. (Defect 285337)

iMonitor Displays Wrong Cache Statistics If the Count Exceeds 4GB

Fix: The iMonitor cache counts are rolled back to zero once it exceeds 4GB (32-bit integer). This version of eDirectory updates the iMonitor database cache statistics to 64-bit integer to avoid rolling back to zero when exceeds 4GB. (Defect 236031)

iManager Crashes While Using Zero-Length Password to Login

Issue: This occurs when a zero length password is used to login to the NMAS client. (Defect 273049)

1.5 Supported Upgrade Paths

To upgrade to eDirectory 9.2 SP4, you need to be on eDirectory 8.8.8.x or above. For more information on upgrading eDirectory, see the NetIQ eDirectory Installation Guide.

2.0 System Requirements

3.0 Installing or Upgrading

To upgrade to eDirectory 9.2 SP4, you need to be on eDirectory 8.8.8.x or 9.x. For more information on upgrading eDirectory, see the NetIQ eDirectory Installation Guide.

To upgrade your eDirectory server from 9.2.3 HF1 to 9.2.4, perform the following steps based on your platform:

3.1 Upgrading eDirectory on Linux

  1. Run the following command to stop the eDirectory instance:

    ndsmanage stopall
  2. Run the following command:

    rpm -Uvh --oldpackage nici64-3.1.0-2.x86_64.rpm --nodeps
  3. Run the follwing command:

    rpm -Uvh --oldpackage netiq-openssl-1.0.2x-0.x86_64.rpm --nodeps
  4. Download and extract the eDirectory-9.2.4.zip file.

  5. Navigate to the <HF extracted location>/Linux directory.

  6. Run the following command:

    ./nds-install

3.2 Upgrading eDirectory on Windows

To upgrade your eDirectory server from 9.2.3 HF1 to 9.2.4, see Upgrading eDirectory on Windows.
