OpenText Identity Manager Engine 24.2.1 (v4.9.0.0100) Release Notes

OpenText Identity Manager Engine 4.9 Patch 1 (4.9.0.0100) resolves a previously identified issue in the Identity Manager Engine component. This document outlines how you can install this patch.

1.0 Resolved issue

This release provides a software fix for OCTCR56A710092. This fix resolves the email failure error that occurs in the following scenarios:

  • When the email server is set up with basic authentication.

  • When no authentication credentials are required.

2.0 Updating engine

2.1 Prerequisites

To apply this update, you must have the following minimum versions:

NOTE:If you do not want to authenticate with the email server, you must perform the following steps:

  1. Clear the Authenticate to the server using credentials check box while configuring the email server settings in OpenText Identity Console. This option is not available in Identity Console 1.8. If you are using version 1.8, you must manually delete the following SMTP attributes:

    • notfSMTPAuthMechanisms

    • notfSMTPEmailUserName

    • notfSMTPMailPassword

  2. For Email Based Approval in the Identity Manager Dashboard, ensure to disable the Authentication Required option in both incoming and outgoing email server settings.

  3. After saving your changes, restart the Tomcat service (Linux) or the IDM Apps Tomcat Service (Windows) to apply the updates.

2.2 Updating this patch on Linux

  1. Log in to the Identity Manager engine server.

  2. Take a backup of the dirxml.jar and dirxml_misc.jar files in the following location, depending on your access privilege:

    • For root users: /opt/novell/eDirectory/lib/dirxml/classes

    • For non-root users: /home/<user>/opt/novell/eDirectory/lib/dirxml/classes

  3. Stop the Identity Vault using the following command:

    ndsmanage stopall

  4. Download and extract the Identity_Manager_4.9.0_P1_Engine.zip.

  5. Navigate to the <extracted location>/linux64 directory.

  6. If you are running this patch as a root user, then run the following command:

    rpm -Uvh novell-DXMLbasenoarch-4.9.0-0100.rpm

    Skip to Step 8.

  7. If you are running this patch as a non-root user, then do the following:

    1. Set the root directory path for Identity Vault.

      export ROOTDIR='<root directory path>'

      For example,

      export ROOTDIR='/home/idvault'

    2. Upgrade both the RPMs using the following command:

      rpm --dbpath $ROOTDIR/rpm -Uvh --relocate=/usr=$ROOTDIR/opt/novell/eDirectory --relocate=/etc=$ROOTDIR/etc --relocate=/opt/novell/eDirectory=$ROOTDIR/opt/novell/eDirectory --relocate=/opt/novell/dirxml=$ROOTDIR/opt/novell/dirxml --relocate=/var=$ROOTDIR/var --badreloc --nodeps --replacefiles /&lt;path to the new rpm&gt;

      For example,

      rpm --dbpath /home/idvault/rpm -Uvh --relocate=/usr=/home/idvault/opt/novell/eDirectory --relocate=/etc=/home/idvault/etc --relocate=/opt/novell/eDirectory=/home/idvault/opt/novell/eDirectory --relocate=/opt/novell/dirxml=/home/idvault/opt/novell/dirxml --relocate=/var=/home/idvault/var --badreloc --nodeps --replacefiles /Linux/novell-DXMLbasenoarch-4.9.0-0100.rpm

  8. Start the Identity Vault using the following command:

    ndsmanage startall

2.3 Updating this patch on Windows

  1. Log in to the Identity Manager engine server.

  2. Navigate to the C:\NetIQ\IDM\NDS\lib\ folder and take a backup of the dirxml.jar and dirxml_misc.jar files.

  3. Stop the Identity Vault instance.

  4. Download and extract the Identity_Manager_4.9.0_P1_Engine.zip.

  5. Navigate to the <extracted location>\windows64 folder.

  6. Copy dirxml.jar and dirxml_misc.jar files from the extracted location to the C:\NetIQ\IDM\NDS\lib\ folder.

  7. Start the Identity Vault.
