19.1 Create an Exception

The following procedure provides an example of starting from Manage > Endpoints.

  1. Click Manage > Endpoints.

  2. Select the endpoints or groups that you want to except from assessment reports.

  3. Click ... > Create Exception.

  4. Select the policy templates that contain the security checks that you want to except.

    To except the endpoints or groups from all assessment runs, you must select all policy templates.

  5. Click Next.

  6. For each specified policy template, select the security checks that you want to except.

    To except the endpoints or groups from all assessment runs, specify all security checks.

  7. Click Next.

    To reduce the number of exceptions in the database, Secure Configuration Manager checks whether a similar exception already exists.

  8. Specify the Properties of the exception.

    You must specify the start date for the exception to be in effect.

  9. (Optional) To create a custom reason, click Add new reason.

    You should also enter a Description of the reason so that other users can understand the reason’s purpose.

  10. Click Create.

    NOTE:In some organizations, exceptions must be approved before they can go into effect in an assessment report.

  11. (Optional) To check the status of or to edit the exception, click Utilities > Exceptions.
