2.3 Upgrading to the Microsoft SQL Server 2008 SP2 Enterprise Database

To upgrade to the Microsoft SQL Server 2008 SP2 Enterprise database:

  1. After taking a backup of Microsoft SQL Server 2005, run the SQL Server 2008 installer.

  2. Select the Upgrade from SQL Server 2005 option.

    While upgrading, the system might restart.

  3. Stop the PlateSpin Recon service, PlateSpin Recon Monitoring service, and the World Wide Web Publishing service before you proceed with the upgrade.

    For more information on how to stop the PlateSpin Recon services, see Section B.2, Manually Stopping the PlateSpin Recon Services.

  4. After the database upgrade is successfully completed, you must install the Microsoft SQL Server 2008 SP2 Enterprise database.

  5. After the installation of the Microsoft SQL Server 2008 SP2 Enterprise database is complete, launch the SQL Management Studio, then connect to the Microsoft SQL Server 2008 database.

    Check whether the databases that you backed up are available.

  6. Restart the PlateSpin Recon services mentioned in Step 3, then launch the Recon client.
