B.10 Managing Credentials

The workload credentials that you provide in the Credential Manager are saved in the PlateSpin Recon database. The password is encrypted by using the 1024-bit RSA encryption. The encryption keys are saved in a PlateSpin Recon DLL file. The keys are encrypted by using 128-bit AES (Rijndael) encryption and are stored as binary data in the DLL file. When you monitor and inventory a UNIX or Linux workload from the PlateSpin Recon Server, the password is sent over the SSH connection. For a Windows workload, PlateSpin Recon uses Windows authentication and the password is not sent across the network.
