10.3 Server Sync to Amazon Web Services

  1. Launch the PlateSpin Migrate Client.

  2. Discover your source workload. See Section 6.0, Discovering Workloads and Targets.

  3. Right-click the discovered source workload and click Prepare AWS Target.

  4. Perform the following steps:

    1. To log in to your AWS account for the first time, specify the following:

      • AWS Access Key ID and AWS Secret Access Key: The two parts of an access key that is a valid set of security credentials required to access AWS account.

      • AWS Region: The geographic area to which your AWS account has access.

      During subsequent logins, these options are automatically populated with the values that you specified during your earlier login.

    2. Click Login.

    3. (Conditional) If you are logging in for the first time, the Replication Environment Details dialog displays. Specify the following and then click Save:

    4. (Conditional) If you are logging in for the first time, the Migrate Server Details dialog displays. Specify the Migrate server IP and the credentials to register the target instance with the Migrate server, then click Save.

    5. In the Prepare AWS Target dialog, do the following:

      1. Click the ServerSync tab.

      2. Select the appropriate target instance.

      3. Specify the hostname to register the target with the Migrate server.

      The Target Instance Storage section displays all the disks available on the selected target. The disks are sorted based on the device name.

    6. (Optional) Click the settings icon to modify the replication details or the Migrate server details.

    7. Click Prepare.

    8. On completion of the registration job, you are prompted to view the logs. To view the logs, click Yes. Click Close.

  5. In the PlateSpin Migrate Client, the registered target instance is listed with the host name you specified in Step 4.e.c. Drag the source workload to this target to start a migration job.

    The system validates the selected source and target and, if it detects matching operating systems on them, it provides you with two Transfer Scope options, Full Migration and Server Sync.

  6. Select the Server Sync option, then click Configure Job.

  7. In the job configuration window, specify the parameters of the job as dictated by the purpose of the operation, address any warnings and errors, and ensure that you map the required volumes on the source to those on the target.

  8. Click Start. PlateSpin Migrate starts the job and lists it in the Jobs view.
