The Status portlet shows the current condition of one or more elements. The condition color is the same severities as shown on the Operations Center console. For more information about element condition and the color indicators, see Managing Condition/Severity Colors in the Operations Center User Guide.
The Status Portlet can also be used to set the starting element for other portlets on the Web page, similar to the Navigation portlet. To configure the Status portlet to drive other portlets, see Section 8.14.2, Configuring the Status Portlet and Section 7.3.2, Configuring Starting Elements for Portlets.
While viewing a Status portlet:
Hover the mouse over the name of the element to view any available element information or any menu options.
You might see the date and time that the element was last updated, notes for the element, and links to other portlet components.
If the Status Portlet is being used as a driver portlet, click any element to update other portlets on the page.
You can configure the type of icon displayed shown on the Status portlet. By default, the condition is automatically updated when the element’s condition changes in the Operations Center server. You can turn off this option in the preferences.
To configure the Status portlet:
Click the options icon and select Preferences.
Use the options in the Status tab to configure portlet features. For portlets other than Status, the Status tab is found under the Advanced tab.
Specify the following options to configure the Status portlet to display the condition of an element:
Show Elements: Show selected elements only, selected elements with children elements, or selected elements children elements only. Regardless of the selection, the Dashboard implements user permissions as assigned in Operations Center. A user must have permission to view an element in order to see its status. For more information on permissions, see the Operations Center Security Management Guide.
Status Indicator: Select a square, oval, or arrow for the type of icon to display the current condition. The default is a square.
Number of Columns: Enter a number and the portlet calculates how to display the elements using the specified number of columns. The default is 3.
Status Title: Specify a description for the portlet information in the Status Title text area. HTML coding is accepted in the text description. Use HTML for additional formatting, such as font style or line breaks. Select the Hide title. check box to remove the title description on the portlet.
Align Status Title: Select left, right, or center to display the descriptive text horizontally.
Select the following options to enable mouse-over options on elements:
Select Date/time of last update. to show the last date and time that the element was updated, when the mouse hovers over the element.
Select Element notes. to show all comments saved for the element on the Operations Center console, when the mouse hovers over the element. For more information on comments associated with elements, see Monitoring Elements and Element State in the Operations Center User Guide.
Select Links to view element in different portlet to show links to additional components, when the mouse hovers over the elements. Then expand the option to select the actual components to show links for. Click the Advanced tab to configure the options for each component.
Select Refresh portlet when updates occur to enable automatic updates of the condition of elements displayed. The condition of an element changes automatically when the condition changes in the Operations Center server. Deselect the check box to control updates manually.
Click Save.
Click the Elements tab to select the elements to display.
For options to use the Status portlet to set the starting element of other portlets on the Web page, click the Advanced tab, then click the Common tab.
