2.3 New Dashboard Features and Enhancements

2.3.1 New Portlet Features for NetIQ AppManager and Control Center Integration

New features added in Dashboard portlets provides the ability to view AppManager information including:

  • New Custom Properties tab in the Information portlet gives users a list of all custom properties and allow you to edit values.

  • New right-click operation in the Navigation portlet and Layout portlet allow you to view and edit custom properties.

For more information, see the NetIQ AppManager Operations 5.6 Portal Getting Started Guide.

2.3.2 Enhanced Charting Portlet

The Dashboard Charting portlet now offers the following features for enhanced charting capability:

  • Summary Indicators: Now you can configure summary indicators for chart metrics. These display as round bubbles above the chart and contain a count or calculation that is configurable. The color of the bubble background reflects the color used to chart the metric.

  • Dual Y-Axis Scales: When more than one metric is charted, two y-axis scales are used to enhance charting when metric values are substantially disparate. An additional y-axis is added to the right side of the chart for one or more metric values. Positioning of color indicators on legend and arrow icons in data point tooltip alert the user to which metric is represented by the new right-side y-axis values.

  • Group By Option: Now you can chart metric data based calculated value of data points within a time period. Select the time interval (minute, day, week, month, year) and calculation type (average, min, max, and sum).

For more information, see Configuring the Charting Portlet in the Operations Center 5.6 Dashboard Guide.

2.3.3 Charting Element Properties in the Layout Portlet

The Dashboard portlet now offers the following enhancements:

  • Support for Element Properties: The Layout Portlet now supports the charting of element properties. If a performance metric is not available to chart, Operations Center looks for an element property.

  • Smart Scaling: The display of elements and drawing objects is optimized based on the size and number of objects to the user’s available viewing area, and solve previous over-scaling issue.

  • Maximum Vertical Display: Optionally, specify the maximum vertical space this portlet is allowed to use.

For more information, see Configuring the Layout Portlet in the Operations Center 5.6 Dashboard Guide.

2.3.4 Alarms Portlet Supports Date-based Drive Events

The Alarms portlet now supports date-based drive events. The events contain a From and To date that Operations Center uses to filter the existing alarms table by the supplied date range. The filter is applied based on the last update timestamp of the given alarm. A message at the top of the Alarms portlet indicates when the date filter is active and provides an option to clear the filter.

At this time, only the new Charting portlet can generate the date-based drive events.

2.3.5 Portlets Support Persistent Alarm Column Sizes

Dashboard administrators can now save column widths for Alarm columns at the portlet level and persist the column widths for all dashboard users. Dashboard users can only override the column widths for the current session.
