The console installation runs a text-based version of the Operations Center installation wizard. In a console installation:
The options are the same as the Windows-based version, except that you must type the responses.
There are no buttons to open directories to locate files. Instead, you must provide the path names for the files.
There is no option to open the Configuration Manager at the end of the installation. The default settings for the Configuration Manager are automatically applied.
You can run a console installation on a UNIX machine without having an X Window system set to display graphical (X client) applications on the local X server display. However, you will still need the local X server display to open the Configuration Manager on that machine, if you opt to do so after installing Operations Center.
To run a console installation:
Do one of the following:
Windows: Insert the Operations Center Installation CD and from the directory where the installation executable file resides, type install.bat ‑i console at a command prompt.
UNIX Create a home directory for the installation, mount the Operations Center Installation CD, then from the directory where the installation executable file resides, type ./install.sh ‑i console at a command prompt.
