The following sections correspond to the scenarios in Section 2.1, Where to Install the Lotus Notes Driver. Complete the steps for the scenario you prefer:
Complete the following steps for a local installation. In this scenario, the Metadirectory engine, Identity Vault, Lotus Notes driver, and Lotus Domino are all on the same server.
Install the Metadirectory server (Metadirectory engine and drivers) on the Lotus Domino server.

If you want to use the Remote Loader with the driver, install the Remote Loader on the Lotus Domino server.

Continue with Section 2.3, Copying Ndsrep and Notes.jar to the Required Locations to complete installation of the files.
Complete the following steps for a local installation on a Notes client workstation. In this scenario, the Metadirectory engine, Identity Vault, Lotus Notes driver, and Notes client are all on the same workstation, but the Lotus Domino server is a separate server.
Install the Metadirectory server (Metadirectory engine and drivers) on the Notes client workstation.

If you want to use the Remote Loader with the driver, install the Remote Loader on the workstation that contains the Lotus Notes Client.

Continue with Section 2.3, Copying Ndsrep and Notes.jar to the Required Locations to complete installation of the files.
NOTE: If you start the Notes client when the driver is still running, the client locks the log.nsf file, which causes the Remote Loader crash.
Complete the following steps for a remote installation on a Lotus Domino server. In this scenario, the Metadirectory engine and Identity Vault are on one server and the Remote Loader and Lotus Notes driver are on a separate Notes Domino server.
