8.1 Using Time Machine to Review Snapshots

NOTE:Time Machine only displays data from existing snapshots. To take a snapshot, go to Administration > Data Collection > Snapshot Service.

Audit, Compliance & Data Intelligence (ACDI) offers comprehensive details about every snapshot, including:

  • Start and finish times of the snapshot

  • Duration of the snapshot

  • Total number of objects

  • Average size of each object

  • Average speed of objects (per second)

  • Average index size

To review snapshots of an LDAP server at different time intervals, perform the following steps:

  1. Navigate to the ACDI home page and click Time Machine.

  2. Select the LDAP server that you want to audit. Available options include eDirectory and any LDAP server from another Identity Manager.

Ensure that eDirectory is selected in the Select index source list.

  3. By default, the data is displayed for the Last 7 days. You can change the time range to display data over minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, or years. For more information, see Setting the Time Filter. The preview pane displays data snapshots organized in a timeline. The icon next to the Select index source list indicates the count of snapshots within the specified time range. For example, indicates that there are 8 snapshots available for the last 7 days.

The snapshot usually appears in green. Green indicates no errors, whereas yellow indicates that the collected data contains errors.

  4. (Optional) To learn more about the errors in a snapshot, click Discover Errors. You can also download the error logs for further analysis.

  5. (Optional) To export the data to a CSV file format, click the Download as CSV icon. You can use third-party software to process it later.
