NetIQ Group Policy Administrator 6.9 Release Notes

NetIQ Group Policy Administrator 6.9 includes new features, improves usability, and resolves several previous issues.

Many of these improvements were made in direct response to suggestions from our customers. We thank you for your time and valuable input. What’s New?

The following outline the key features and functions provided by this version, as well as issues resolved in this release:

Operating System and Software Support

The GPA console and the GPA Repository now run on Windows SQL 2016, Windows 10, and Windows Server 2016. The GPA server now runs on Windows Server 2016. See the user guide for the complete list of supported operating systems and software.

Support for WMI Filters

This version allows you to create, edit, and delete WMI filters from the GP Explorer.

Improved Permissions Management

This version contains an improved user interface that broadens your ability to manage users and their permissions.

Support for Modifying GPO Link Order

This version permits you to change the order of GPO links without having to check out the GPOs.

Improved Process for Merging GPOs

This version has expanded the options available when merging GPOs, including the ability to select specific settings from two GPOs and merge them into a new, composite GPO.

Installing This Version

To install this version, run Setup.exe on each GPA server, GP Repository, and GPA console computer.

IMPORTANT:GPA now requires the following prerequisite versions:

  • Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x86) (or x64 for GPA Console)

  • .NET Framework 4.0

  • PowerShell 2.0

The prerequisite checker installs these updated versions if you select that option.

Addressed Issues

This service pack includes all of the following fixes:

  • Resolved an issue in which GPA would change AD permissions after a failed GPO export. (ENG343155)

  • Resolved an issue in which GPA would not create the GUID folder in SYSVOL after exporting a GPO. (ENG342181)

  • Resolved an issue in which the GPA console did not report a valid error. (ENG342539)

  • Resolved an issue in which GP Explorer displayed incorrect links on the GPO’s Links tab. (ENG207311)

  • Resolved an issue with slow performance of the GP Repository on untrusted domains. (ENG343401)

  • Resolved an issue that prevented you from using the GPA console to select a domain controller from an untrusted domain. (ENG345157)
