13.1 Novell Licensing Services Error Codes List

These are the Novell® Licensing Services (NLS) error codes included in this section:

0xC0001001 LS BAD HANDLE

Source: NLS
Explanation: The specified handle does not exist.
Action: Obtain a valid handle with LSRequest.

0xC0001002 LS INSUFFICIENT UNITS

Source: NLS
Explanation: A license is not available.
Possible Cause: Nlslsp.nlm is not running.
Action: Install a certificate in the server’s context.
Possible Cause: All license units are in use.
Action: Install an additional certificate. Try again when existing or additional license units are available.
Possible Cause: You removed and reinstalled eDirectory™ or NDS®.
Action: Search for and follow instructions in TID 2941280 at Novell Support Knowledgebase.
Possible Cause: The Server object and [Public] don’t have enough rights.
Action: Make sure that the Server object (NLS_LSP_server) has the Browse right to the License

Certificate objects.

Action: Make sure that the server object has the Read property right to "All Properties."
Action: Make sure that [Public] has the Browse right to the License Container object where the license certificates are stored. Search for and see instructions in TID 2943750 at Novell Support Knowledgebase.
Possible Cause: You deleted the server base license (a License Certificate object).
Action: Reinstall the license certificates. Search for and follow instructions in TID 2943405 at Novell Support Knowledgebase.
Possible Cause: You removed the Read/Write replica from the NLS server. (The NLS server is running

nlslsp.nlm. If you are running NetWare® Administrator, it is the server that shows up as NLS_LSP_server.)

Action: Search for and follow instructions in TID 2949634 at Novell Support Knowledgebase.
Possible Cause: Two NetWare 5 servers contain a replica of the [Root] partition.
Action: Search for and follow instructions in TID 2950971 at Novell Support Knowledgebase.

0xC0001003 LS SYSTEM UNAVAILABLE

Source: NLS
Explanation: No licensing system is available.
Possible Cause: Nlslsp.nlm is not running.
Action: If NLS is installed, load nlslsp.nlm. If NLS is not installed, run setupnls.nlm to install a licensing service provider (nlslsp.nlm).
Possible Cause: eDirectory or NDS is not running.
Action: Make sure that the eDirectory or NDS database is open. You might need to run dsrepair.nlm to do this.

0xC0001005 LS AUTHORIZATION UNAVAILABLE

Source: NLS
Explanation: The user is denied access to license units. A license was found, but the server assignment didn’t match the name of the server.
Possible Cause: The license certificate is not assigned to the server that the request was sent to. The server assignment is incorrect.
Action: Check the server assignment. Make sure that the certificate is assigned to the correct server.
Possible Cause: The user does not have rights to request units from the certificate. (To request units, the user must have the Read right to the NLS:HandleList attribute. To change the server assignment, the user must have the Write right to this attribute.)
Action: Grant necessary rights to either the handle list or the affected attribute.

0xC0001006 LS LICENSE UNAVAILABLE

Source: NLS
Explanation: A license certificate was found. However, no license units are currently available.
Action: Install an additional license certificate or try again later.

0xC0001007 LS RESOURCES UNAVAILABLE

Source: NLS
Possible Cause: Most likely, the server does not have enough memory.
Action: Add more memory or find out why the server is using so much memory. Rerun the application.

0xC0001008 LS NETWORK UNAVAILABLE

Possible Cause: Most likely, the server does not have enough memory.
Action: Add more memory or find out why the server is using so much memory. Rerun the application.

0xC0001009 LS TEXT UNAVAILABLE

Source: NLS
Explanation: No text could be obtained for the specified error value.

0xC000100A LS UNKNOWN STATUS

Source: NLS
Explanation: An unrecognized error occurred during the licensing of the software.
Possible Cause: You have an invalid data version.
Action: Run setupnls.nlm.

0xC000100B LS BAD INDEX

Source: NLS
Explanation: A bad index value was passed to a licensing routine.
Action: Contact your vendor and retry the call with a valid index.

0xC000100C LS LICENSE EXPIRED

Source: NLS
Explanation: One or more installed license certificates have expired.
Action: Install new certificates or wait for more license units to become available.

0xC000100D LS BUFFER TOO SMALL

Source: NLS
Explanation: A buffer passed to a licensing function was too small.
Action: Contact the vendor.

0xC000100E LS BAD ARG

Source: NLS
Explanation: A challenge failed during an NLS 3.0 or NLS 3.4 call.
Possible Cause: The license certificate is not valid.
Action: Contact your vendor to make sure that you have a valid license certificate.

0xC0004001 NLS TOO MANY UNITS

Source: NLS
Explanation: The number of units in the certificate, when added to the number of units already installed, would have exceeded the maximum number of units allowed by the NLS_LIC_MAX_UNITS_ALLOWABLE tag. This error applies mostly to NetWare for Small Business or Novell Small Business Suite software, where only 50 connection license units can be installed.
Possible Cause: The number of units in the certificate caused the attempted installation to fail.
Action: Check the number of license units already installed. For NetWare for Small Business or Novell Small Business Suite software, install a certificate that brings the total units available to 50.

0xC0004002 NLS ALREADY INSTALLED

Source: NLS
Explanation: The attempt to install a license certificate failed.
Possible Cause: The certificate already exists in the eDirectory or NDS tree.
