Directory and Resource Administrator 9.2.1.6 Release Notes

This patch resolves specific issues with the DRA Server, DRA Win32 Console, and the Web Console. This document outlines why you should install this patch.

1.0 System Requirements

This patch requires installation on Directory and Resource Administrator 9.2.1 or a previously patched version of 9.2.1.

2.0 Installing This Version

To install this patch, close all DRA consoles and run the DRA_9_2_1_6.EXE on the DRA Primary and Secondary servers and the DRA-REST-Extensions_9_2_1_6.EXE on all servers hosting the DRA Rest and DRA Host Services.

2.1 Installation Considerations

After you install the patch, perform a hard refresh on the browser to clear the cache and reload the pages. Ctrl+Shift+R or Ctrl+F5 will work with most browsers. This is required to see the changes from the patch.

3.0 Customer Issues Addressed in This Patch

This release resolves the following DRA Administration Server issues:

  • Resolved an issue where DRA failed to see cloud mailboxes when Office 365 cloud policies were used. (ENG349991)

  • Resolved an issue that caused slow processing when searching for objects in DRA 9.2.1.x. (ENG349947)

  • Resolved an issue where users experienced slow performance when completing bulk imports using the Command Line Interface. (ENG349977)

4.0 Customer Issues Addressed in Previous Patches

The following issues were addressed in previous patches:

  • Resolved an issue that caused the Win32 Console to crash when you edit schedules such as last logon, ADLDS clean up, and Dynamic Group refresh. (ENG349629)

  • Resolved an issue with the full accounts cache refresh. (ENG349584)

  • Resolved an issue where the DRA Server hangs when deleting an Exchange Enabled Contact with an invalid Exchange Detail. (ENG349588)

  • Resolved an issue where the DRA Secondary server fails to cache all Active Directory users. (ENG349603)

  • Resolved an issue that caused the full accounts cache refresh to start when DRA fails to communicate with the cache service. (ENG349717)

  • Resolved an issue that caused DRA policies to be removed from the registry after a patch uninstall. (ENG349762)

  • Resolved an issue where hidden fields were unable to auto-populate in the Web Console. (ENG349596)

  • Resolved an issue where DRA fails to populate all Country attributes when the country is set to Guernsey. (ENG349597)

  • Resolved an issue where the contents of the old home directory may be deleted without being copied to the new home directory if one or more files are opened with the Exclusive lock option when the move operation is performed. (ENG349307)

  • Resolved an issue with accessing custom attributes in Submit Handler on the Create page. (ENG349221)

  • Resolved an issue with the Web Console custom handler error, when calling a DRA edit page directly through a URL. (ENG349244)

  • Resolved an issue where customization tasks were not visible when upgraded from DRA 9.2.1.x to DRA 9.2.1.4. (ENG349192)

  • Resolved an issue where DRA 9.2.1.x fails to return a group membership in the Web Console, when group members were viewed. (ENG349205)

  • Resolved an issue with the unlicensed cloud mailboxes that were not displaying as cloud objects. (ENG346578)

    IMPORTANT:After applying this patch, perform a full accounts cache refresh for the managed domains to support non-license cloud mailboxes.

  • Resolved an issue where the Group rule in an ActiveView with an Exclude rule does not return groups. (ENG349045)

  • Resolved an issue with the ExchangeEnum operation on the cloud mailbox objects such as Room Mailbox, Equipment Mailbox, and Shared Mailbox. (ENG349138)

  • Resolved an issue that prevented Office 365 License policy from assigning powers to the Power BI license. (ENG349115)

  • Resolved an issue where DRA 9.2.1.x fails to clone an Exchange Enabled Contact in the Web Console when the In.EmailAddress parameter was empty from the variable set DRA 9.1.x and DRA 9.2.0.x clone. (ENG348900)

  • Resolved an issue with spacing where the Display Name appears as LastName,Firstname without space after a comma. (ENG348885)

  • Resolved an issue where the LDAP query macro fails to use a defined variable and displays an undefined error when the query is executed using the Options tab. (ENG348884)

  • Resolved an issue where Workflow customization is executed using the Form Load Handlers; the set values are not saved onto the view and are unable to pre-populate form fields. (ENG348861)

  • Resolved an issue where the Account Expiration Time on a user Account page can be inadvertently applied when hosting the Web Console on a Windows 2016 Japanese operating system. (ENG348761)

  • Resolved an issue where the create custom LDAP search with an attribute equal fails to save the search criteria in the Web Console. (ENG348194)

  • Resolved an issue where the User Principal Name (UPN) suffix was changing in the Web Console after refreshing the user properties page. (ENG349166)

  • Resolved an issue where the Public Folder cacheloader action fails to find a running Exchange Server when the configured Exchange Server is down. (ENG348543)

  • Resolved an issue where the Post task trigger fails to execute the script during the GroupMemberEnum and PagedEnum operations. (ENG348620)

  • Resolved an issue where an Active Directory user attribute, msRTCSIP-PrimaryUserAddress, is duplicated when the Web Console or Win32 Console is used to clone the AD user with Skype for Business enabled. (ENG348617)

  • Resolved an issue that impacted performance when an Assistant Administrator, who is a member of multiple groups that have delegated powers, performs any operation. (ENG348625)

  • Resolved an issue that impacted performance while login and only when the environment has multiple member servers are managed. (ENG348643)

  • Resolved an issue that impacted performance while the GroupMembershipEnum operation is performed in the Web Console. (ENG348564)

  • Resolved an issue where, instead of multiple characters per line, the values of a Multi-Value Text field are converted to a single-character-per-line format. (ENG348612)

  • Resolved an issue where the Built-in policy for Group Name maximum length field was failed tovalidate. (ENG348536)

  • Resolved an issue where the DRA cache loader fails on a few cycles of an IACR. (ENG348449)

  • Resolved an issue with the Win32 Console scroll bars not working in the Office 365 Licensepage. (ENG348366)

5.0 Uninstalling This Patch

To uninstall the patch:

  1. Log on to the target computer with a local administrator account.

  2. Open the Windows Control Panel window and start the Programs and Features program.

  3. Select View installed updates from the left panel and locate the patch.

  4. Right-click the patch and click Uninstall.

7.0 Known Issue

7.1 A full accounts cache refresh is required on Office 365 tenants when addressing issue ENG349991

To address the inability to see cloud mailboxes in DRA, a full accounts cache refresh (FACR) needs to be run on all managed Office 365 tenants after installing DRA Patch Update 9.2.1.6.

7.2 Unable to trigger patch uninstall from the Add/Remove programs when Windows User Access Control is enabled (ENG349308)

Workaround: You can uninstall the patch using the command line by performing the following:

  1. Log into the DRA Server OS as DRA service or another account with membership in the Local Administrators group.

  2. Launch a command prompt as a domain administrator.

  3. At the command prompt, change the directory to the location for DRA_9_2_1_6.EXE, and run the following command to extract the patch uninstall file: DRA_9_2_1_6.EXE /c /t:<path for MSP file>

  4. To launch the DRA Patch Update 9.2.1.6 uninstall program, run: Msiexec /package {F385CAD0-033C-4A09-92F8-6F34653E88AB} MSIPATCHREMOVE=<MSI_patch_GUID> /qb /lv* DRA_patch_uninstall.log/

    For example, to uninstall DRA 9.2.1 Patch 6 run the following command:  Msiexec /package {F385CAD0-033C-4A09-92F8-6F34653E88AB} MSIPATCHREMOVE={F6B5DCC2-C10E-435B-8981-5CE0B5EC0881} /qb /lv* DRA_patch5_uninstall.log

    The following values can be specified in the command above <MSI_patch_GUID> depending on which patch you are uninstalling.

7.3 The patch version details are not removed after uninstalling this patch (ENG349501)

Though the DRA 9.2.1.6 patch uninstallation is successful, this patch will not remove the patch version details from Win32 Console and Web Console.

This issue is only cosmetic and will not impact any of the functionality of the product.

Workaround: None.
