Directory and Resource Administrator and Exchange Administrator 9.1.0 Release Notes

Directory and Resource Administrator and Exchange Administrator 9.1.0 includes new features, improves usability, and resolves several previous issues.

Many of these improvements were made in direct response to suggestions from our customers. We thank you for your time and valuable input. The following outline the key features and functions provided by this version, as well as issues resolved in this release:

Operating System and Software Support

DRA now supports Windows 10, Microsoft Exchange 2016, Windows Server 2016, and SQL 2014.

Enhancements and Software Fixes

The following feature changes were implemented in this release:

Web Console Enhancements

The new Web Console has received a host of new features and improvements, including the following:

  • You can now manage AD Dynamic Groups.

  • You can now view domain properties.

  • You can now manage a domain’s recycle bin.

  • You can now generate custom LDAP searches via the Web Console. (ENG341009)

  • You can now manage Office 365 mailboxes.

  • You can now manage Dynamic Distribution Groups.

  • You can now manage on-premise shared mailboxes. (ENG340453)

  • You now have several new customization options, including access to a new multi-level query field that can be added to new or revised property pages.

  • You can now manage on-premise linked mailboxes.

  • You can now manage Skype for Business objects and Skype for Business Online objects.

  • You can now log into the Web Console with a User Principal Name (UPN). (ENG341008)

Support to Prevent Accidental Deletions

DRA now has the PreventFromAccidentalDeletion attribute that can be set on any object. (ENG334179)

Feature Enhancement for Mail-Enabled Groups.

You now have the ability to add Send as rights to a mail-enabled group. (ENG338358)

DRA Service Queries

You now have the ability to query DRA for the number of concurrent connections per DRA server. (ENG340077)

Support for Office 365

You can now configure an Office 365 tenant to use a custom source anchor. (ENG341471)

System Requirements

You must install the Directory and Resource Administrator and Exchange Administrator 9.1.0 release on a Microsoft Windows Server 2012, 2012 R2, or 2016 computer.

Installing This Version

This service pack includes a full version of DRA. You can install this version in a clean environment or upgrade an existing installation of DRA 9.0 or newer.

  • Resolved an issue that prevented you from using the Web Console to modify Microsoft Exchange 2007 mailbox security or rights. (ENG292472)

  • Resolved an issue in which DRA misidentified Windows 2008 servers as NT4 machines. (ENG314311)

  • Resolved an issue that prevented DRA from modifying the Extension attribute for users. (ENG326057)

  • Resolved an issue in which DRA set the account expiration date and time based on the current time offset instead of on the time offset of the date you entered. (ENG331837)

  • Resolved an issue in which custom attributes could not be seen in the custom power wizard or in the UI extensions. (ENG333230)

  • Resolved an issue in which DRA could not manage the Protect object from accidental deletion flag on Windows 2008 organizational units. (ENG334179)

  • Resolved an issue that required you to restart the Win32 console after right-clicking a computer and selecting Start Shutdown. (ENG335717)

  • Resolved an issue that generated an error when attempting to view an ActiveView-managed object that contains a group rule that points to a deleted group. (ENG339123)

  • Resolved an issue that prevented servers running older versions of DRA from using an ARM console that runs a newer version of DRA. (ENG341845)

  • Resolved an issue in which if you attempted to create a home directory in a subfolder of a shared folder, the home directory was created with an invalid name. (ENG341848)

  • Resolved an issue where the FACR would fail if there were intermittant connection issues to the domain controller. (ENG341889)

  • Resolved an issue with the functionality of the power restriction feature of the Aegis form in the Web Console. (ENG342146)

  • Resolved an issue that prevented you from setting mailbox security when the domain used by DRA is not a GC server. (ENG342401)

  • Resolved an issue that generated an error when attempting to enable the DRA management reports collector from the Delegation and Configuration console. (ENG342469)

  • Resolved an issue that generated an error if, when attempting to move a mailbox, you select a server that does not currently have any mailbox stores activated. (ENG342498)

  • Resolved an issue that prevented the functioning of MMS syncs if the primary server has an Office 365 policy defined, but the downlevel secondary server does not have Office 365 support. (ENG342538)

  • Resolved an issue that prevented the functioning of the bulk update of Select fields on the Web Console’s custom user tab. (ENG342702)

  • Resolved an issue that generated an error because the CheckNames process took too long to complete. (ENG342838)

  • Resolved an issue that caused the REST installer to stop during installation. (ENG342839)

  • Resolved an issue that prevented DRA from creating a trigger against a limited set of ActiveViews if the names of the ActiveViews has a comma. (ENG342955)

  • Resolved an issue in which the report type displayed in the Report Type field on the Web Console’s Change History Report page did not update when a new report type was chosen. (ENG343119)

  • Resolved an issue with the performance of the ExcludeAdminFromSGP registry key. (ENG343131)

  • Resolved an issue that allowed you, via the PowerShell console, to run the Enable-DRAUser command even though you did not have the Enable User power. (ENG343235)

  • Resolved an issue in which the Web Console displayed Exchange-specific task options even when the user has a Cloud mailbox. (ENG343912)

  • Resolved an issue in which, when using the Web Console to add members to a group, the target group displays in the New Members panel instead of in the Groups panel. (ENG344102)

  • Resolved an issue in which DRA tried every Exchange server regardless of the server’s location. (ENG344123)

  • Resolved an issue with the incomplete error message that displays when DRA fails to retrieve the complete set of cloud properties for a user. (ENG344141)

  • Resolved an issue with the REST service’s host server query process. (ENG344227)

  • Resolved an issue with using the Web Console and a least privilege Domain Access account to delete a computer. (ENG344284)

  • Resolved an issue with the failure of the Web Console’s custom Aegis form to allow the use of multiple read-only fields. (ENG344347)

  • Resolved an issue with the Web Console failing to recognize the Modify All User Profile Properties power. (ENG344375)

  • Resolved an issue with DRA deleting a group if, in the same OU, you create a user with the same full name as the group. (ENG344491)

  • Resolved an issue with MMS syncs not occuring on some servers after upgrading. (ENG344500)

  • Resolved an issue in which users who lack DRA Admin powers can still customize the Web Console. (ENG344580)

  • Resolved an issue in which, when attempting to remove members from a group with more than 250 members, the Web Console would only display the first 250 members of that group. (ENG344677)

Skype Enable Check Fails

You cannot enable Skype Online if you have installed the beta version of the Microsoft Sign In Assistant. (ENG345013)

Workaround: Restart the DRA Skype Service.
