2.1 Cloud Manager Licensing Requirements

Cloud Manager requires any installation of its Orchestration Server to be licensed. None of the Cloud Manager components functions properly without a licensed server installation.

2.1.1 License Requirements During Installation

The Cloud Manager Orchestration Server is normally the first component of the product to be installed. During the configuration of the downloaded server package, you are required to provide a path to a license file. This file can be either a license you purchase from NetIQ, or an evaluation license (a trial key). The installation configuration cannot proceed without the license.

2.1.2 Product License

To purchase a license for Cloud Manager, contact an authorized NetIQ Sales representative at 888-323-6768, or go to the Cloud Manager How to Buy web page. Your representative will send a purchased license file for Cloud Manager to your account at the NetIQ Customer Center. From the Customer Center, save the file to a location that you can access during the Cloud Manager Orchestration Server installation.

2.1.3 Product Evaluation Terms and Procurement

You can download and evaluate Cloud Manager with an evaluation license (trial key) for 90 days. The trial key controls the number of users and managed nodes you can configure, and sets an expiration date. After 90 days, you must purchase a license, or discontinue use of the product.

To initiate a 90-day trial for Cloud Manager, contact an authorized NetIQ Sales representative at 888-323-6768, or go to the Cloud Manager How to Buy web page. Your representative will send a trial key file for Cloud Manager to your account at the NetIQ Customer Center. From the Customer Center, save the file to a location that you can access during the Cloud Manager Orchestration Server installation.

2.1.4 Upgrading the Server from a Trial License to a Purchased License

If you are operating the Cloud Manager Orchestration Server with an evaluation license, use the following steps to upgrade from a trial key to a product license key you purchased from NetIQ:

  1. Stop the Orchestration Server.

    /etc/init.d/netiq-cmosserver stop
  2. Copy the purchased license key file (key.txt) to the /opt/novell/zenworks/zos/server/license directory. You overwrite an older license file in this process.

  3. Start the Orchestration Server.

    /etc/init.d/netiq-cmosserver start
