1.0 What’s New?

The following Knowledge Scripts support Oracle Weblogic server 12.2.x:

  • Discovery_WebLogicSrvUNIX

  • WebLogicSrvUNIX_JDBCClients

  • WebLogicSrvUNIX_JDBCConnectionCapacity

  • WebLogicSrvUNIX_JDBCConnections

  • WebLogicSrvUNIX_JMSServersMsgsStored

  • WebLogicSrvUNIX_Memory

  • WebLogicSrvUNIX_ServerCPU

  • WebLogicSrvUNIX_ServerJVMHeap

  • WebLogicSrvUNIX_ServerState

This release resolves the following issues:

  • Discovery fails on WebLogic server 12.2.2.1: The Discovery_WebLogicSrvUNIX Knowledge Script was not supported on WebLogic server 12.2.2.1. With this release, the Discovery_WebLogicSrvUNIX Knowledge Script discovers WebLogic server 12.2.2.1. (ENG344904)

  • Discovery fails on WebLogic server 10.3.6 with JRE 1.7: The Discovery_WebLogicSrvUNIX Knowledge Script failed to discover WebLogic server 10.3.6 with JRE 1.7. In this release, the issue is fixed. (ENG345602)

  • Event detail messages do not contain the WebLogic server names in which the errors have occurred: The event detail messages for the internal errors did not contain the WebLogic server instance names in which the errors occurred. In this release, the issue is fixed. (ENG342400)

  • The threshold units are not displayed clearly for the WebLogicSrvUNIX_JDBCConnectionCapacity Knowledge Script: The unit of measurement of the Current capacity threshold parameter and the Maximum capacity threshold parameter was not displayed clearly in the Knowledge Script properties and the event messages and this caused confusion. In this release, the unit is clearly displayed as number (#) for the parameters. (ENG340693)

To get the updates provided in this release, you must install the module to the AppManager repository (QDB) and on the agent computer. For more information about installing this module, see the NetIQ AppManager for WebLogic Server UNIX Management Guide, included in the download package

This release of AppManager for WebLogic Server UNIX replaces all previous releases.

2.0 System Requirements

For the most recently updated list of supported application versions, see the AppManager Supported Products page. Unless noted otherwise, this module supports all updates, hotfixes, and service packs for the releases listed below.

AppManager for WebLogic Server UNIX has the following system requirements:

Software/Hardware

Version

NetIQ AppManager installed on the AppManager repository (QDB) computers and on all console computers

8.2 or later

NetIQ UNIX agent operating system on the computers you want to monitor (agent computers)

One of the following UNIX agents:

  • UNIX Agent 8.2 with patch 8.2.0.1

  • UNIX Agent 8.1.0.1 or 8.1.0.11 with patch 8.1.0.14

One of the following:

  • Weblogic server 12, 11, or 10

  • Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 1.8, 1.7, 1.6, or 1.5

  • Java 1.8, 1.7, 1.6, or 1.5

The Java executable that starts the NetIQ WebLogic agent and the libAgentProvider shared library used by the NetIQ WebLogic agent must either be 64-bit or be 32-bit. If this condition is not met, discovery fails. For the Solaris platforms, the libAgentProvider shared library is a 32-bit library.

The WebLogic Discovery Knowledge Script looks for a Java executable in the path you specify in the Directory to search for a Java Runtime Environment field of the Knowledge Script. If you did not specify a directory, the Knowledge Script uses the information contained in the Oracle WebLogic registry file in the Oracle WebLogic directory.

If the UNIX agent is running in non-root mode, after you apply the patch you must reconfigure the agent using UNIX agent manager or wcAppManConfig.

For more information on hardware requirements and supported operating systems and browsers, see the NetIQ AppManager for WebLogic Server UNIX Management Guide, included in the download package.

3.0 Contents of the Download Package

The download package includes these release notes, a management guide, Help for Knowledge Scripts, and several files that are used during installation:

  • AM70-WebLogicSvrUNIX-8.0.47.0.msi, the module installer.

  • AM70-WebLogicSvrUNIX-8.0.47.0.ini, a configuration file used with the AppManager setup program.

  • AM70-WebLogicSvrUNIX-8.0.47.0.xml, a configuration file used for deploying the module with Control Center. This is the file you check into the Control Center Web Depot.

  • AM70-WebLogicSvrUNIX-8.0.47.0-RepositoryFiles.exe, a compressed file that contains the QDB and console files. You do not need to run this file during installation.

  • One of the following patch files:

    • p82p1.zip, the patch file you install on any computers you want to monitor that have UNIX agent 8.2.

    • p81p14.zip, the patch file you install on any computers you want to monitor that have UNIX agent 8.1.0.1 or 8.1.0.11.

When you download the module, these files are copied by default to the local folder on the download computer. Consider copying these files to the \windows_installation\setup\Setup Files folder on the same distribution computer on which you saved your main AppManager software and documentation. By doing so, you maintain all AppManager software in one location that is easily accessible when you want to add more repositories, management servers, or agents.
