This section provides information to help you upgrade your existing NetIQ Aegis installation to Aegis 3.2. If you currently use Aegis 2.2, 2.3, 3.0, or 3.1, you can upgrade to Aegis 3.2 using one of the following methods:
In-place upgrade
Migration to a new environment
An in-place upgrade allows you to:
Upgrade from a non-clustered Aegis 2.2 environment to a non-clustered Aegis 3.2 environment
Upgrade from a non-clustered Aegis 2.3 environment to a non-clustered Aegis 3.2 environment
Upgrade from a non-clustered Aegis 3.0 environment to a non-clustered Aegis 3.2 environment
Upgrade from a non-clustered Aegis 3.1 environment to a non-clustered Aegis 3.2 environment
Upgrade from a clustered Aegis 2.2 environment to a clustered Aegis 3.2 environment
Upgrade from a clustered Aegis 2.3 environment to a clustered Aegis 3.2 environment
Upgrade from a clustered Aegis 3.0 environment to a clustered Aegis 3.2 environment
Upgrade from a clustered Aegis 3.1 environment to a clustered Aegis 3.2 environment
NOTE:If you want to use Aegis 3.2 with 64-bit operating systems, and your current environment uses 32-bit operating systems, you must migrate your existing data to a new environment. For more information, see Section 2.3.2, Migrating Your Existing Data to a New Environment.
To perform an in-place upgrade, simply run the Aegis setup program on your existing Aegis computers. For more information about installing Aegis and the order in which to install components, see Section 2.4, Installing Aegis Components in a Non-Cluster Environment or Section 2.5, Installing Aegis Components in a Cluster Environment.
These steps guide you through the process of migrating the data from your existing installation to a new environment in the following scenarios:
Migrating from 32-bit environment to a 64-bit environment
Migrating from a non-cluster environment to a cluster environment
To migrate your existing data to a new environment:
In your current Aegis installation, stop the following services:
NetIQ Aegis Activity Broker service
NetIQ Aegis Correlation Engine service
NetIQ Aegis Engine service
NetIQ Aegis Namespace Provider
NetIQ Aegis Namespace Provider (pre-2.2) (if you are upgrading from Aegis 2.2 or 2.3)
NetIQ Aegis Business Services Layer
On the Database Server computer for your current installation of Aegis, back up the following databases:
Aegis
IQRM

On the Database Server computer in your new environment, restore the databases. For more information about restoring databases, see the appropriate Microsoft documentation.
Run the Aegis setup program on the computers in your new environment using one of the following checklists:
