VigilEntAgent process using high amount of memory

Environment

HP-UX itanium 64 (ia64) running the Unix 7.4 agent


Situation

With the 7.4 Unix agent running on HP-UX ia64, running the HPAuditObject_singleton rule group,
the VigilEntAgent process consumes but does not release memory as expected.

Resolution

To resolve this issue install Security Agent for UNIX 7.4 HF7017495 Hotfix 8.  Which can be found at the following location. 


Cause

When the Unix agent is configured to forward events to sentinel, a memory leak in the EventBasis
provider results in the VigilEntAgent process consuming but not releasing memory,
