How to enable logging for SSPR

Situation

How to generate an SSPR Log file

Resolution

Configure Logging for SSPR in SSPR Configuration Editor

WITH SSPR 4.1 and 4.2
1. Under Settings, Logging - set log level to "Trace"  for all options


2.  Enable LDAP wire trace in under "LDAP, Settings, Global"


3. Click the "Save" icon in the top right corner.
4. Perform the desired operation.
5. Go into SSPR Configuration Manager and click the option to "Download Troubleshooting Bundle." 


WITH SSPR 3.3
1. Under Settings, Logging - set log level to "Trace"  for all options
             


2.  Enable LDAP wire trace in under "General LDAP Settings"



3. Click the "Save" icon in the top right corner.
4. Perform the desired operation.
5. Go into SSPR Configuration Manager and click the option to "Download Troubleshooting Bundle."


WITH SSPR 3.0 to 3.2

1. Click View,  include “Advanced Settings”
2. Under  “Settings,” “Logging and Alerts,” set the following:
-  “Java StdOut Log Level” → Trace 
-  “LocalDB Log Level” → Trace
-  “Enable LDAP Wire Trace (Advanced)” → True
    as shown:      


3. Click Actions, Save
4. Perform the desired operation
5. Go into SSPR Configuration Manager and click the option to "Download Troubleshooting Bundle."


With the exception of the LDAP trace information, SSPR log events can also be seen in “Configuration Manager” →  “View Log Events”

Additional Information

Note:  Prior to SSPR prior to 3.1, it was necessary to manually locate and copy the log file.
   Log files can be found in the following locations:
- on Windows servers:  C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Tomcat<x>\logs\tomcat<x>-stdout.<date>.log
         - or  C:\Program Files (x86)\NetIQ Self Service Password Reset\apache-tomcat-7.0.50\logs
-  on Linux servers:   /var/log/tomcat<x>/catalina.out
