Cisco Unity Express is a voice mail solution for Unified Communications Manager Express environments, and can be used only with Unified Communications Manager and Unified Communications Manager Express. Unity Express integrates voice mail and auto attendant services inside Cisco routers.

This release provides new features or resolves previous issues. Many of these improvements were made in direct response to suggestions from our customers. We thank you for your time and valuable input. We hope you continue to help us ensure our products meet all your needs. You can post feedback in the AppManager forum on Qmunity, our community Web site that also includes product notifications, blogs, and product user groups.

This document outlines why you should install this module, lists any installation requirements, and identifies any known issues. NetIQ Corporation assumes you are familiar with previous versions of this product. Why Install This Release?

Release 7.3.24.0 of AppManager for Cisco Unity Express resolves the following issue:

  • Discovery job fails when unknown devices are encountered. This release resolves an issue in which the Discovery_CiscoUE Knowledge Script job fails with the following error message: 0 Cisco Unity Express device(s) discovered. The job fails when AppManager does not recognize certain devices on which Cisco Unity Express is installed. After you install this release, a code change to update the list of supported Cisco devices allows the Discovery_CiscoUE job to succeed. (ENG282538).

This release of AppManager for Cisco Unity Express replaces all releases discussed in Previous Releases.

System Requirements

AppManager for Cisco Unity Express has the following system requirements:

  • At minimum, AppManager version 7.0 installed on the AppManager repository (QDB) computers, on all proxy agent computers, and on all console computers
    Note For support of Windows Server 2008, hotfix 71704 is required. For more information, see the AppManager Suite Hotfixes Web page.
  • Routers running Cisco Unity Express 2.2, 2.3, 3.0 3.1, or 7.0.4.
  • One of the following Microsoft operating systems installed on the proxy agent computer:
    • 32- or 64-bit Windows Server 2003
    • 32- or 64-bit Windows Server 2008
  • AppManager for Microsoft Windows module installed on the AppManager repository (QDB) computer, on the proxy agent computers, and on all console computers
    Note For support of Windows Server 2008, the most recent version of the AppManager for Windows module is required. For more information, see the AppManager Module Upgrades & Trials Web page.
  • AppManager for Network Devices module installed on the AppManager repository (QDB) computers, on the proxy agent computers, and on all console computers. For more information, see the AppManager Module Upgrades & Trials Web page.

Contents of the Download Package

AppManager for Cisco Unity Express includes a managed object, qNQCiscoUE.dll, and Knowledge Scripts to discover and monitor Unity Express resources. The download package includes this Readme, a management guide, Help for Knowledge Scripts, and several files that are used during installation:

  • AM70-CiscoUE-7.3.24.0.msi, the application module setup program.
  • AM70-CiscoUE-7.3.24.0.ini, a configuration file used with the AppManager setup program.
  • AM70-CiscoUE-7.3.24.0.xml, a configuration file used for deploying the module with Control Center. This is the file you check into the Control Center Web Depot.
  • ckCiscoUE.exe, the pre-installation check used with the AppManager setup program.

When you download the module, these files are copied by default to the the Program Files\NetIQ folder on the download computer. Copy these files to the \windows_installation\setup\Setup Files directory on the same distribution computer on which you saved your main AppManager software and documentation. By doing so, you maintain all AppManager software in one location that is easily accessible when you want to add more repositories, management servers, or agents.

Installing This Release

Install the module on all on all AppManager repository (QDB) computers to install Knowledge Scripts, on all proxy agent computers, and on all console computers to install the Help and console extensions. Run the setup program only once on each repository and proxy agent computer.

Known Issues

NetIQ Corporation strives to ensure our products provide quality solutions for your enterprise software needs. The following issues are being researched. If you need further assistance with any issue, please contact Technical Support.

  • No Help from Control Center Console. No Help is available for CiscoUE Knowledge Scripts in AppManager deployments in which the Control Center Console is the only console installed. If the Operator Console is also installed, then Help is available from both the Control Center Console and the Operator Console.

Previous Releases

This release of AppManager for Cisco Unity Express includes enhancements added in previous releases.

Release 7.3.20.0, December 2009

This release provided support for monitoring Unity Express version 7.0.4.

Release 7.3.17.0, May 2009

This release provided support for 64-bit Windows Server 2003 and 32- and 64-bit Microsoft Windows Server 2008.

Release 7.3, May 2008

This release added support for Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6). AppManager for Cisco Unity Express recognizes and displays IPv6 addresses in the Operator Console and Control Center Console.

Release 7.2, January 2008

This release provided support for Cisco Unity Express version 3.1. It also provided support for AppManager licensing: AppManager consumes one license for each discovered Cisco Unity Express mailbox.
