Resolution

Group Policy Guardian Version 2.0 SP1 Hotfix 51697.

This hotfix addresses an issue where Group Policy Guardian (GPG) does not appear to be collecting events and the Application Event Log contains 7769 errors indicating "WMI Error: Call Cancelled." This error occurs when you are monitoring Windows 2003 domain controllers with GPG 2.0 SP1 and the domain controllers do not have Microsoft Hotfix KB 902346 applied to them. NetIQ Hotfix 51697 resolves this issue so that 7769 errors no longer occur in the Application Event Log and GPG 2.0 SP1 continues to collect events without interruption.

Note: This hotfix requires GPG version 2.0 SP1.

To install this hotfix:

  1. Download and save Hotfix51697.
  2. Run the GPG20001_Hotfix51697.exe file on the GPG Database computer.
  3. Run the GPG20001_Hotfix51697.exe file on the GPG Server computer.
  4. Run the GPG20001_Hotfix51697.exe file on any GPG Collector computers.
  5. Confirm that the GPG Host Service has been restarted on the GPG Server Computer and any GPG Collector computers.

This hotfix modifies the faProviders.dll file in the GPG installation folder. By default, this file is located in the Program Files\NetIQ\Group Policy Guardian\Service folder.
