Resolution

fact
Directory and Resource Administrator 7.0 SP1

symptom
Permissions are reset on NetApp file when parent permissions were reset.

symptom
When administrators remove groups from the ACL on the parent directory, DRA incorrectly modifies the ACL on home directories created on NetApp filers.

fix

This issue is addressed in NetIQ Directory and Resource Administrator and Exchange Administrator version 7.0 SP1 Hotfix 45913.

Hotfix 45913 addresses an issue when administrators use Directory and Resource Administrator (DRA) to create users and home directories on NetApp filers. If the parent directory where the home directory is created contains a security group in the access control list (ACL), and if the "Allow inheritable permissions of the parent to propagate to children" checkbox on the Security tab of the parent directory is selected, removing this security group from the ACL on the parent directory removes permissions for the user and every other inherited user and group from the ACL of the home directory. Applying Hotfix 45913 ensures that DRA correctly modifies the ACL on home directories created on NetApp filers when administrators remove groups from the ACL on the parent directory.

Note: This Hotfix requires DRA version 7.0 SP1.

To download and install this hotfix:

  1. Close all DRA user interfaces.
  2. Run the DRA70001_Hotfix45913.msi file on each Administration server.

This hotfix modifies the MCSHomeShareTriggers.dll file on each Administration server. By default, this file is located in the Program Files/NetIQ/DRA folder.
