Error 'getobjectsafe failed' received when displaying properties of printers or services via the Directory and Resource Administrator Web Console.

cause
The Web Console is caching the name of the Administration Server.

fix

This issue is addressed in NetIQ Directory and Resource Administrator and Exchange Administrator version 7.0 SP1 Hotfix 39589.

Hotfix 39589 corrects an issue when attempting to view resource properties viewing the Web console with Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0. Customers experiencing this issue see the getobjectsafe failed: [c00444a8] automation error dialog.

Note: This Hotfix requires DRA version 7.0 SP1.

To download and install this hotfix:

  1. Run the DRA70001_Hotfix39589.msi file on each Web Console server. 

This hotfix modifies the DraWcSearchHelper.dll file on the Web Console server computers. By default, this file is located in the Program Files\NetIQ\DRA folder. This hotfix also modifies the following files on the Web Console server computers:

  • Common\Scripts\FormControls\PrintJobManageCtrl\RenderCtrl.asp
  • Common\Scripts\SearchForms\ResourceTasks\GetComputerPrinterListHTML.asp
  • Common\Scripts\SearchForms\ResourceTasks\GetComputerServiceListHTML.asp

By default, these files are located in the Built-in folder of the Web Console root folder (C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\DRAWeb\WebConsole).
