Resolution

fact
AppManager UNIX Agent v. 6.5

fact
Red Hat Linux

fact
SuSE Linux

symptom
Unix agent does not automatically restart when the computer reboots.

symptom
Unix agent will not come back up when I turn the machine off then bring it back up.

symptom
Unix agent is not in the startup list.

cause
NetIQ Technical Support has determined that the installation program does not properly register the UNIX agent service script as a system service to run at startup.

fix

Make sure you have a properly configured Unix agent service by entering the command:

chkconfig --list nqmdaemon

If you have a properly configured entry, the command will return results similar to:

nqmdaemon 0:off 1:off 2:on 3:on 4:on 5:on 6:off

If nqmdaemon is not listed as a service or if all run levels are off, enter the following command:

chkconfig --add nqmdaemon

You must have the UNIX agent installed to control the service script with chkconfig.
