Situation
What are the proper clean up guidelines for all AS/400 auditing data, especially the ALPF01 file?
Resolution
The retention and removal of system auditing data depends on:
- System size
- System utilization/workload
- How much of the system's information is being gathered
- How much storage space (DASD) is available.
Each environment is different.
Regarding the ALPF01, review the section for "System Access Analysis" in the PSAudit User Guide for menu Option 2 - Purge Logged Data (Page 3-11). Data can be saved to tape if desired. ALPF01 and ALPF03 can be purged both interactively and by batch job.
