Dave Shields is an IT Professional with over 17 years of experience in IT, 7 of those years have been spent working in IAM and IT Security in the Energy sector, the Defense sector and Higher Education and has worked in a wide variety of other sectors including healthcare, telecommunications and even Native American gaming. He currently serves as the Managing Director of the IARM program at OU (Boomer!) where he has served for two years. Dave holds an AAS in IT/Engineering, a BS in MIS/Ethics, and a Master of Science in Cybersecurity. He is also an adjunct instructor for Liberty University Online where he teaches the Master’s level class: “Ethics, Legal Issues and Policy”, a class he has taught for over two years (and was deemed the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the course a year ago). Dave and his team at OU consider themselves visionaries in the world of IDM in Higher Education as they have come up with several great approaches for dealing with the complexity of higher ed identity in the midst of an ever changing world of new technologies. He presented on IDM in Higher Ed at the Educause Security Professionals conference in August 2016 and on the same topic at the Oklahoma Higher Ed conference for IT (CoIT) in October 2016.
