27.0 Ending Inactive Sessions

In Sentinel 8.2 SP3 or later, you can configure Sentinel to end a session if there is no user activity for a specified duration. Sentinel displays a warning a minute before the specified duration ends. If a user keeps a session inactive till this duration, Sentinel logs the user out of the session.

Sentinel does not track user inactivity, by default. You must manually configure Sentinel to end inactive sessions.

To set the inactivity timeout period:

  1. Log in to the Sentinel server.

  2. Open the /<sentinel_installation_path>/etc/opt/novell/sentinel/config/ui-configuration.properties file.

  3. Set the desired value for the user.inactivity.time property in milliseconds.

  4. Refresh the browser through which you have logged into Sentinel.
