C.1 Evaluation Checklist

The following checklist helps you track completed tasks in this product trial and provides a reference to detailed steps in the evaluation process.

 

Checklist Items

  1. Review the terminology and components in Secure Configuration Manager. See Section C.2, Getting Started.

  1. Verify that your computer meets the requirements for the evaluation and plan how you want to set up the components. See Section C.2.1, Installing Secure Configuration Manager and the NetIQ Secure Configuration Manager Installation Guide.

  1. Install prerequisite software and Secure Configuration Manager on the evaluation computer or computers. See the NetIQ Secure Configuration Manager Installation Guide and the NetIQ Secure Configuration Manager Windows Agent Installation and Configuration Guide.

  1. Start the console and begin the guided tour. See Section C.3, Adding Assets to the Asset Map.

  1. Run policy templates and security checks to begin auditing the systems in your environment. See Section C.4, Auditing IT Assets.

  1. Review report results and create exceptions for some endpoints or data. See Section C.5, Evaluating IT Assets.

  1. Configure compliance alerts and schedule regular policy template and delta report runs. See Section C.6, Maintaining Environment Configuration Standards.

  1. Upgrade your trial installation to a production environment. See Section C.7, Applying Product Licenses.
