NetIQ Secure Configuration Manager Windows Agent 5.9.1 Hotfix 7015966 Release Notes

This hotfix for the NetIQ Secure Configuration Manager Windows Agent adds support for CIS benchmarks for Windows 2008 R2 version 2.1.0, and also resolves previous issues. This release notes document outlines why you should install this hotfix.

1.1 Support for CIS Benchmarks for Windows 2008 R2

This hotfix adds Domain Controller and Member Server policy templates for CIS security benchmarks for Windows 2008 R2 version 2.1.0.

1.2 Software Fixes

This hotfix resolves the following issue.

Default Check for Antivirus Software Does Not Find Symantec v12

Issue: The default security check for installed antivirus software in the system does not find Symantec version 12 antivirus software. (BUG 912545)

Fix: This hotfix updates the default security check to find Symantec version 12. This check is available through the external Autosync server.

2.0 System Requirements

This hotfix requires NetIQ Secure Configuration Manager Windows Agent 5.9.1. For information about hardware requirements, supported operating systems and browsers, and other software requirements, see the Installation Guide for NetIQ Secure Configuration Manager.

3.0 Installing This Hotfix

NOTE:Ensure that you have installed the previous hotfixes provided for Secure Configuration Manager Windows Agent 5.9.1 before installing this hotfix.

To deploy this hotfix to remote computers:

NetIQ recommends that you use the Secure Configuration Manager console, to deploy this hotfix. For more information about deploying the hotfix, see Section 4.3.2, Updating a Windows Agent in the Installation and Configuration Guide for NetIQ Secure Configuration Manager Windows Agent.

NOTE:

  • This hotfix package includes the NSAW591_Hotfix7015966.nap file that you need for remote deployment.

  • Deploy this hotfix to every Windows agent.

To install this hotfix on local computer:

  1. Log on to the agent computer with an administrator account.

  2. Run the NSAW591_Hotfix7015966.msp file.

  3. Follow the instructions in the wizard until you have finished installing the hotfix.

  4. Run the AutoSync wizard to download and apply the latest security knowledge for updating Windows security checks and policy templates

  5. Repeat Steps 1 through 4 on each Windows agent computer.

4.0 Verifying the Installation

To verify that the Windows agent installation was successful, on the computer where you installed the Windows agent, open the Control Panel utility for adding and removing programs and click View installed updates and verify that the list of currently installed programs includes Windows Agent 5.9 SP1 Hotfix 7015966.

5.0 Modified Files

This hotfix modifies the following files:

  • <Installation Directory>\scripts\netiq_windows_security_policy.js

  • <Installation Directory>\bin\vsawn_system.dll
