8.0 Disaster Recovery

This chapter describes the considerations for Disaster Recovery (DR) and how the system can be made highly accessible. Best practices for DR are used to prevent or reduce data loss and disruption brought on by major catastrophes. Without a DR plan you have limited defense against the effects of very disruptive occurrences.

As part of the Privileged Access Manager we provide The backup and restore utility is a install file located at /iso/Utilities/Backup_Restore/. This utility allows you to either restore the configuration data or the audit data, or both using the following commands.

  • -a: Backup all the database, config, and video files

  • -d: Backup the database and config files

  • -v: Backup only the video files

To prevent the disaster, it is recommended that you take the Privileged Access Manager backup whenever there are multiple configuration level changes.
