5.9 Importing and Exporting Data and Configurations from User Groups, Sites, or Organizations

Various data can be imported and exported for sites using LAR files. Import and export options include pages, portlet configurations, permissions, themes, and categories.

Even though a LAR file might contain all data from a site, a partial import can be accomplished by disabling the data you do not wish to import.

IMPORTANT:Imported pages overwrite all existing pages.

To import pages:

  1. Do one of the following:

    • If you are importing to a site, go to a page that has a My Sites portlet.

    • Click Welcome and select Control Panel.

      Under Portal, select Sites, User Groups, or Organizations.

  2. Click Actions next to the desired group, organization, or site and select Manage Pages.

  3. Select the Public Pages or Private Pages tab.

  4. Select the Export / Import tab.

  5. Select the Import tab.

  6. Click the Browse button to select the LAR file to import.then

    WARNING:Imported pages replace all existing pages in the site.

  7. Specify the data to import by selecting the desired check box options.

  8. Click Import.

To export pages:

  1. Do one of the following:

    • If you are exporting to a site, go to a page that has a My Sites portlet.

    • Click Welcome and select Control Panel.

      Under Portal, select Sites, User Groups, or Organizations.

  2. Click Actions next to the desired site and select Manage Pages.

  3. Select the Public Pages or Private Pages tab.

  4. Select the Export / Import tab.

  5. Select the Export tab.

  6. Specify the name of the LAR file where the data is to be saved.

  7. Specify the data to export including pages, portlets, permissions, theme and categories by selecting the desired check box options.

  8. To export, click Export.
