9.0 Setting Up an Identity Manager Cluster on SLES 11 SP2

This chapter provides information for configuring eDirectory and Identity Manager in a cluster environment. For a sample installation of eDirectory and Identity Manager into a cluster environment with Shared Storage, see Section A.0, Sample Identity Manager Cluster Deployment Solution.

You can deploy Identity Manager in a clustered environment on SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) and use Pacemaker to manage the High Availability service. The High Availability of an Identity Manager system ensures efficient manageability of critical network resources including data, applications, and services. It also ensures that only one node is active at any given point of time. Identity Manager is mostly a Java-based application that runs in the eDirectory process space. When you have eDirectory clustered, the Identity Manager engine is also clustered. You can also deploy the Remote Loader in a clustered environment. For setting up a Remote Loader cluster, see Section 9.3, Clustering the Remote Loader.
