There are several locations where you can install the driver files, as discussed in Section 2.2, Where to Install the Active Directory Driver.
By default, the Active Directory driver files are installed on the Metadirectory server at the same time as the Metadirectory engine. The installation program extends the Identity Vault’s schema and installs the driver shim, the driver configuration file, and a utility to help with the configuration of the driver. It does not create the driver in the Identity Vault (see Section 4.0, Creating a New Driver) or upgrade an existing driver’s configuration (see Section 5.0, Upgrading an Existing Driver).
