6.8 Troubleshooting

6.8.1 Installation Log

During installation, a log file will be written out to the volume at /config/ASAM/setup/install.log. If you had mapped /data to /config, that corresponds to /data/ASAM/setup/install.log on your Docker host. This will be valuable for troubleshooting both to you and technical support.

6.8.2 Container and Volume Cleanup

If something goes wrong during the installation, you may have to redo the install process. But, in order to start from scratch, you may need to remove the container and volume you created in previous steps.

docker container rm asamcdrv-container

If you created a volume, you can remove it with:

docker volume rm <volume>

If you used a local folder, you can delete its contents:

rm -rf /data/*

6.8.3 Copying Data from Container Volume

If you are using volumes created by Docker, it’s not always easy to access data directly from them. In order to copy data between your volume and your Docker host, use the docker cp command. The first command copies the debug.log from your volume. The second command would copy the LDAP Root CA file to the volume.

  • docker cp asamcdrv-container:/config/ASAM/debug.log .

  • docker cp ca.pem asamcdrv-container:/config/ASAM/keys/

6.8.4 Opening an Interactive Shell with the Container

Sometimes it’s convenient to simply open a shell within the container in order to look at files, view running processes, or runs scripts. To obtain an interactive shell with the container, run:

docker exec -it asamcdrv-container bash
