IV Installing and Managing Sentinel Log Management for Identity Governance and Administration

This section guides you through the process of installing Sentinel Log Management for IGA (SLM for IGA), which is the default auditing service for Identity Manager. Identity Reporting requires this version of Sentinel or a third-party auditing service such as NetIQ Sentinel.

The installation files are located in the products/Sentinel directory within the .iso image file for the Identity Manager installation package. By default, the installation program installs the components in the /opt/novell/sentinel location.

Identity Reporting communicates with SLM for IGA for auditing. To log events, Identity Reporting uses the data synchronization policy created by SLM for IGA. The events that you filter using the data synchronization policy will reach the Reporting database. For more information about creating the data synchronization policy and filtering the policy, see Creating the Data Synchronization Policy.

The PostgreSQL that is bundled with Identity Manager installer can be used. If you have installed PostgreSQL on a separate server, then you need to migrate your EAS data to a new server. For more information, see Migrating from Event Auditing Service to Sentinel Log Management for IGA.

NetIQ recommends that you review the installation process before beginning. For more information, see Section 13.0, Planning to Install Sentinel Log Management for IGA.
