11.2 Installing the Hotfix as a Root User or an Administrator

To install the hotfix to the Identity Vault as a root user, complete the following steps:

  1. Ensure that you have completed the prerequisites for installing the hotfix.

  2. On the server where you want to run the hotfix, log in as root or administrator.

  3. Navigate to the hotfix installation files directory of the .iso image file.

    • eDirectory 9.0.2 HotFix 2: products/eDirectory/eDir902_HF2

    • eDirectory 8.8.8 Patch 9 HotFix 2: products/eDirectory-888x/eDir8889_HF2

  4. Depending on your platform, run one of the following commands:

    • Linux: Run the following commands in a terminal window:

      • eDirectory 9.0.2: Run the following commands:

        rpm -Uvh novell-NDSserv-9.0.2-2.x86_64.rpm
        rpm -Uvh novell-AUDTplatformagent-2.0.2-80.x86_64.rpm
        rpm -Uvh novell-AUDTedirinst-9.0.2-2.x86_64.rpm
        rpm -Uvh novell-eba-9.0.2-2.x86_64.rpm
        rpm -Uvh novell-nmas-server-9.0.2-2.x86_64.rpm
      • eDirectory 8.8.8 Patch 9: Run the following commands:

        rpm -Uvh  novell-NDSserv-8.8.8.9-2.x86_64.rpm
        rpm -Uvh novell-AUDTedirinst-8.8.8.9-62.x86_64.rpm
        rpm -Uvh novell-AUDTplatformagent-2.0.2-80.x86_64.rpm
        rpm -Uvh novell-nmas-8.8.8.9-20170112.x86_64.rpm
    • Windows: Perform the following steps:

      1. Copy the following files from the hotfix directory to your current directory. For example: C:\Novell\Directory:

        • nldap.dlm

        • ebasrv.dlm

        • nauditds.dlm

        • nmas.dlm

      2. Install Novell_Audit_PlatformAgent_Win64.exe file.

  5. Start the eDirectory instance.

    • Linux: To start all instances, enter the following command at the command line:

      ndsmanage startall

      To start a single instance, enter the following command:

      ndsmanage start --config-file configuration_file_of_the_instance
    • Windows: Open a terminal and navigate to the NDSCons.exe utility located in the eDirectory installation folder by default:

      1. Run the following command:

        NDSCons.exe 
      2. In the NDSCons utility, click Startup to start all eDirectory services.

      3. Click Yes to confirm.

      4. Verify that all eDirectory services are running, then close the NDSCons utility.

      Alternatively, click Start > Control Panel > Novell eDirectory Services.

  6. (Conditional) To verify that the hotfix has been successfully applied, check the modification date for the files updated by the hotfix installer.

    • Linux: Run the following commands depending on your eDirectory version:

      • eDirectory 9.0.2: Run the following commands:

        rpm -qa | grep -i novell-NDSserv
        rpm -qa | grep -i novell-AUDTedirinst
        rpm -qa | grep -i novell-AUDTplatformagent 
        rpm -qa | grep -i novell-eba
        rpm –qa | grep –i nmas
      • eDirectory 8.8.8 Patch 9: Run the following commands:

        rpm -qa | grep -i novell-NDSserv
        rpm -qa | grep -i novell-AUDTedirinst
        rpm -qa | grep -i novell-AUDTplatformagent
        rpm -qa | grep -i nmas
    • Windows: Perform the following steps:

      1. Right click the nldap.dlm file from your eDirectory installation folder.

      2. Select the Details tab in the Properties window.

      3. Verify the value in the version for the updated components.

        • nmas and EBAServ is 9.0.2.2

        • nldap is 4.4.56.0
