21.4 Configuring Display Preference for the Distinguished Name

You can customize the display settings of Distinguished Name. You can replace the forward slash (/) separator with either a dot (.) or a comma (,). Additionally, you can change the orientation of Distinguished Names (DNs) from bottom to top or from top to bottom for a comprehensive view of the complete object DNs. For example, [leaf to tree node: cn=admin.o=novell.t] or [tree to lead node: t,o=novell,cn=admin] can be displayed accordingly.

NOTE:Dot Notation applies to all the attributes whose syntax is Distinguished Name.

To customize the display preferences:

  1. Log in to OpenText Identity Console.

  2. On the home page, click the username at top right corner, then System Preferences.

  3. On the System Preference page, click Display Preference.

  4. Select a Separator from the drop-down list.

NOTE:Slash(/) is the default object DN view.

  5. Select the preferred Orientation.

According to your preferences, view the object DN in Displayed format.

    • Top-Down: The object DN begins with the highest-level component (tree) and proceeds downward to the specific entry (leaf node). For example: t,o=novell,cn=admin.

    • Bottom-Up: The object DN begins with the specific component (leaf node) and proceeds upward to the highest-level component (root). For example: cn=admin.o=novell.t.

  6. Click Save.
