13.6 Configuring Password Strength for a Business Group

Roles that Can Perform This Task: Cloud Administrator

You can set the validation parameters that should be applied to password parameters that you set for this Business Group. The password strength requirements apply to the following:

  • VNC Password for the workload in the Console Access tab.

  • Windows Administrator Password for the workload in the Linux Settings tab.

  • Linux root password for the workload in the Windows Settings tab.

The password rules apply the next time you change the password. The new password must satisfy all of the requirements. Otherwise, an asterisk (*) is displayed next to the field. Click the asterisk for a tip about the rules that are not yet satisfied.

NOTE:The rules do not consider any network level password requirements. Password strength settings set elsewhere are independent of this function.

To specify password strength requirements:

  1. Select Organizations, then click Business Groups.

  2. Select a Business Group from the list.

  3. In the Edit Business Group dialog, select the Configuration icon.

  4. In the Business Group Configuration dialog, click Password Strength.

  5. Specify the password strength requirements:

Minimum password length: Specify the minimum number of characters allowed for passwords. If you leave the field blank, a value of 0 is set as the minimum allowed length.

Must contain at least one number: Select this option to require one or more numeric characters (0 through 9) in the password.

Must contain at least one special character: Select this option to require one or more special characters in the password. Special characters include !@#$%^*+-= characters. Special characters exclude ampersand (&) and question mark (?).
