6.0 Installing Cloud Manager Application Server Components

Cloud Manager transforms your virtual infrastructure into a true Cloud environment. Built to operate with your existing VMware virtual hosts, Cloud Manager accelerates delivery of services through on-demand requesting of workloads and automated provisioning of the workloads.

Some Cloud Manager RPM files have dependencies on SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) patterns that might not have been previously installed on the SLES server. For this reason, we recommend that you mount the SLES install media in a disk drive on the server while you install the Cloud Manager packages, either from another disk drive on the same server or from a downloaded ISO image.

We recommend that you install and configure the Cloud Manager Orchestration components before you continue with the installation and configuration of Cloud Manager Application Server components. For information about installing Orchestration components, see the Section 5.0, Installing Cloud Manager Orchestration Components.

NOTE:Testing has shown that installing the Cloud Manager Orchestration Server and the Cloud Manager Application Server on the same machine causes problems with the installation and subsequent operation of Cloud Manager. The product is specifically designed for separate installations of these two complementary servers.

This section includes information about installing the Cloud Manager RPM files to a server in your data center.
