5.30 CHR0429

CHR0429: The request for entity information from device %1 failed.

Explanation The SNMP request to retrieve entity information from the device failed or timed-out waiting for a response.

Likely Causes

  • The SNMP community string for the Call Server was not correctly configured using AppManager Security Manager.

  • There is no active route to or from the Nortel CS1000 server.

  • The network or the Nortel CS1000 server was too busy to reply within the timeout period.

  • No cable is attached to the network adapter or NIC.

Operator Action Use the TRACERT command on Windows to determine whether there is a break in the expected route to the Nortel CS1000 server. If TRACERT indicates the route extends all the way to the IP network of the Nortel CS1000 server, it is likely the server is not active or is too busy, or you are using an invalid network address.

For example, although the SNMP client may have a route to the subnet of the SNMP server, if the SNMP server does not have a route back to the subnet with the SNMP client, you will see this message. Ensure routes exist: run a Ping test from the SNMP server to the SNMP client.

Even if you can Ping both SNMP client and server, a firewall may be preventing data from passing from client to server. Configure your firewall to allow SNMP data to pass.
