6.4 AUServiceDown

Use this Knowledge Script to monitor the status of the Automatic Updates service. This script raises an event if the service is down, and can, optionally, attempt to restart the service when it is not running.

6.4.2 Default Schedule

The default interval for this script is Every 5 minutes.

6.4.3 Setting Parameter Values

Set the following parameters as needed:

How to Set It

Raise event if Automatic Updates service is down?

Set to y to raise an event when the Automatic Updates service is down. The default is y.

Collect data for service status?

Set to y to collect data for charts and reports. If enabled, data collection returns:

  • 100 -- service is running, or

  • 0 -- service is not running.

The default is n.

Auto-start service if down?

Set to y to automatically restart the service when it is down. The default is y.

Event severity when auto-start fails

Set the event severity level, from 1 to 40, to indicate the importance of an event in which the service is down and AppManager cannot restart it. The default is 5 (red event indicator).

Event severity when auto-start succeeds

Set the event severity level, from 1 to 40, to indicate the importance of an event in which the service was down and AppManager successfully restarted it. The default is 25 (blue event indicator).

Event severity when service down and auto-start disabled

Set the event severity level, from 1 to 40, to indicate the importance of an event in which the service is down and AppManager has been set to not restart the service. The default is 18 (yellow event indicator).
