9.12 WINSQueries

Use this Knowledge Script to monitor query activity on the Windows Internet Name Service (WINS) server. This script raises an event when query failure rate or the total number of queries exceeds the threshold you set.

The default interval for this script is Every 30 minutes.

9.12.3 Setting Parameter Values

Set the following parameters as needed:

How to Set It

Event?

Set to y to raise an event when the total number of queries per second or the number of failed queries per second exceeds the threshold. The default is y.

Collect data?

Set to y to collect data for charts and reports. If enabled, data collection returns the number of failed and successful queries per second. The default is n.

Failed query maximum threshold

Specify the maximum number of failed queries that can occur per second before an event is raised. The default is 2 query failures per second.

Total query maximum threshold

Specify the maximum number of queries that can occur per second before an event is raised. The default is 50 queries.

Event severity level for failed queries exceeded threshold

Set the event severity level, from 1 to 40, to indicate the importance of an event in which the number of failed queries exceeds the threshold you set. The default is 8 (red event indicator).

Event severity level for total queries exceeded threshold

Set the event severity level, from 1 to 40, to indicate the importance of an event in which the total number of queries exceeds the threshold you set. The default is 25 (blue event indicator).
