System Requirements

For the most recently updated list of supported application versions, see the AppManager Supported Products page. Unless noted otherwise, this module supports all updates, hotfixes, and service packs for the releases listed below.

AppManager for WebLogic Server UNIX has the following system requirements:

  • AppManager version 7.0 or later installed on the AppManager repository (QDB) computer and on all console computers
  • One of the following versions of NetIQ UNIX agent installed on the computers you want to monitor (agent computers):
    • UNIX agent 7.2
    • UNIX agent 7.1 with patch 7.1.44.0
  • WebLogic Server 12, 11, or 10 installed on the agent computers
  • Java Runtime Environment (JRE) version 1.7, 1.6, or 1.5
  • Java version 1.7, 1.6, or 1.5

The Java executable that starts the NetIQ WebLogic agent and the libAgentProvider shared library used by the NetIQ WebLogic agent must either both be 64-bit or both be 32-bit. If this condition is not met, discovery will fail. For most platforms the libAgentProvider shared library is a 32-bit library.

The WebLogic Discovery Knowledge Script looks for a Java executable in the path you specify in the Directory to search for a Java Runtime Environment field of the Knowledge Script. If you did not specify a directory, the Knowledge Script uses the information contained in the BEA registry file in the BEA home directory.

For more information, see the AppManager for WebLogic Server UNIX Management Guide, included in the download package.

Contents of the Download Package

The download package includes this Readme, a management guide, Help for Knowledge Scripts, and several files that are used during installation:

  • p71p44.zip, the patch file you install on any computers you want to monitor that have the UNIX agent 7.1 installed. This file is not necessary for UNIX agent 7.2 computers.
  • AM70-WebLogicSvrUNIX-7.9.17.0.msi, the program you use to install the module to the AppManager repository (QDB) and AppManager console computers.
  • AM70-WebLogicSvrUNIX-7.9.17.0.ini, a configuration file used with the AppManager setup program.
  • AM70-WebLogicSvrUNIX-7.9.17.0.xml, a configuration file used for deploying the module with Control Center. This is the file you check into the Control Center Web Depot.
  • AM70-WebLogicSvrUNIX-7.9.17.0-RepositoryFiles.exe, a compressed file that contains the QDB and console files. You do not need to run this file during installation.

When you download the module, these files are copied by default to the local folder on the download computer. Consider copying these files to the \windows_installation\setup\Setup Files folder on the same distribution computer on which you saved your main AppManager software and documentation. By doing so, you maintain all AppManager software in one location that is easily accessible when you want to add more repositories, management servers, or agents.

Known Issues

NetIQ Corporation strives to ensure our products provide quality solutions for your enterprise software needs. The following issues are currently being researched. If you need further assistance with any issue, please contact Technical Support.

  • When attempting to discovery WebLogic resources on computers running Solaris 11, AppManager incorrectly reports /bin/sh[1]: /usr/netiq/AM/bin/lsof: not found [No such file or directory] even though discovery completes successfully. (DOC324798)
  • Some Knowledge Scripts do not work correctly when the UNIX agent runs under a non-root user account. To work around this issue, ensure that the account has full access to the WebLogic directory. (DOC323371, DOC323372)
  • The WebLogicSvrUNIX_ConnectorConnCurrent and WebLogicSvrUNIX_ConnectorConnRequests Knowledge Scripts do not work correctly if you installed the JCA Resource Adapter using the autodeployment option. This option generates a name for the JCA Resource Adapter deployment and creates conflicting deployment names that AppManager cannot resolve. To avoid this issue, specify a name for the deployment by deploying the JCA Resource Adapter using the WebLogic Ant task wldeploy. (DOC325343)
  • Analysis Center cannot use WebLogic Server data with dynamic legends if the data is gather using UNIX agent 7.2. For more information about the status of a resolution to this issue, see the Knowledge Base on the NetIQ Technical Support Site. (DOC322558)
