AppManager for Siemens ServerView lets you monitor the operation and performance of Siemens ServerView through the same console you are using to monitor your Windows environment.

This document outlines why you should install this module, lists any installation requirements, and identifies any known issues. NetIQ Corporation assumes you are familiar with previous versions of this product. For more information about installing this module, see the AppManager for Siemens ServerView Management Guide, included in the download package.

Why Install This Release?

Release 7.2.72.0 of AppManager for Siemens ServerView provides the following enhancements:

• AppManager for Siemens ServerView versions 4.6, 4.7, and 4.9. This release supports 32- and 64-bit Siemens ServerView versions 4.6, 4.7, and 4.9. For more information, see System Requirements

• Support for Windows Server 2003 environments. This release provides support for monitoring 64-bit Windows Server 2003 environments. For more information, see System Requirements
.
• Support for Windows Server 2008 environments. This release supports the monitoring of 32- and 64-bit Windows Server 2008 environments. For more information, see System Requirements
.
• Two new Knowledge Scripts for monitoring LSI MegaRAID controllers
:
-- Siemens_LSILogicalDriveHealth Knowledge Script. This script monitors the logical disk status on LSI MegaRAID controllers.
-- Siemens_LSIPhysicalDeviceHealth Knowledge Script. This script monitors the physical device status, device errors, and S.M.A.R.T. (Self-Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting Technology) status on LSI MegaRAID controllers.

This release of AppManager for Siemens ServerView replaces all releases discussed in Previous Releases.

System Requirements

AppManager for Siemens ServerView has the following system requirements:

• At a minimum, AppManager version 7.x installed on the AppManager repository (QDB) computer, and on all console and agent computers.
  Note For enhanced support of Windows Server 2008, Hotfix 71704 is recommended. For more information, see the AppManager Suite Hotfixes Web page.
• AppManager for Microsoft Windows version 7.5.208.0 installed on the repository, agent, and console computers
• One of the following Microsoft operating systems installed on the managed (agent) computers:
  --32-bit or 64-bit Windows Server 2003 R2 with SP2
  --32-bit or 64-bit Windows Server 2008 with SP2 or Windows Server 2008 R2
  
• One of the following versions of Siemens ServerView installed on the managed (agent) computers:
  --Siemens ServerView for Windows Server 2003, versions 4.3 through 4.9
  --Siemens ServerView for Windows Server 2008, versions 4.6.1 through 4.9

Contents of the Download Package

AppManager for Siemens ServerView includes a managed object, qsiemsa4.dll, and Knowledge Scripts to discover and monitor Siemens ServerView resources. The download package also includes this Readme, a management guide, Help for Knowledge Scripts, and several files that are used during installation:

• AM70-Siemens-7.2.72.0.msi, the application module setup program.
• AM70-Siemens-7.2.72.0.ini, a configuration file used with the AppManager setup program.
• AM70-Siemens-7.2.72.0.xml, a configuration file used for deploying the module with Control Center. This is the file you check into the Control Center Web Depot.
• ckSiemens.exe, the pre-installation check used with the AppManager setup program.

When you download the module, these files are copied by default to the Program Files\NetIQ folder on the download computer. Considering copying these files to \windows_installation\setup\Setup Files directory on the same distribution computer on which you saved your AppManager software and documentation. By doing so, you maintain all AppManager software in one location that is easily accessible when you want to add more repositories, management servers, or agents.

Installing This Module

Install the module on the Siemens ServerView computer you want to monitor (agent computer), on all repository (QDB) computers to install Knowledge Scripts, and on all console computers to install the Help. Run the setup program only once on each repository and agent computer.
