2.3 Understanding the Task Scheduler Service

AppManager 9.x introduces a new service called the NetIQ AppManager Task Scheduler service. The service schedules SQL Server jobs for QDBs and the CCDB. In earlier versions of AppManager, the Microsoft SQL Server Agent scheduled the jobs.

After you upgrade a QDB to version 9.x, it will not function correctly until you install the service and add the QDB to the service. If you run the setup program on a computer where only a QDB or CCDB is installed or where no AppManager components are installed, you have the opportunity to select the Task Scheduler service for installation. If you want to install the Task Scheduler service on a computer where you are also upgrading AppManager components other than a QDB or the CCDB, first upgrade the existing components, and then run the setup program again to install the Task Scheduler service. For more information about installing and configuring the service, see Understanding Task Scheduler Service Installation in the Installation Guide for AppManager.
