2.2 Understanding Control Center Support for QDBs

A version 9.x CCDB only supports a primary QDB of the same version. You can either create a new version 9.x primary QDB or upgrade your existing version 8.2 primary QDB to version 9.x. If you create a new primary QDB, in order for the product to function correctly, you must add at least one agent computer to the QDB and discover the computer. You can attach version 8.2 QDBs to a version 9.x CCDB as non-primary QDBs.

When you upgrade the CCDB to version 9.x, if the setup program detects a primary QDB that is not the same version or a non-primary QDB that is not version 8.2 or higher, the CCDB upgrade cannot continue.
