1.2 General Installation Requirements

Before installing Operations Center server and console, do the following:

  • Obtain a license file from NetIQ for the Operations Center software.

    You should have received a license file from Operations Center that permits you to run Operations Center software. Contact Support if you do not have a license file.

    For upgrades, a new license file for Operations Center software must be manually saved to the /OperationsCenter_install_path/config directory.

  • Verify that all hardware and software meets the recommended requirements. For more information, see Supported Versions and Hardware Requirements in the Operations Center Getting Started Guide.

  • Confirm that file level security limits access to Operations Center software to authorized users only.

  • Verify that the host machine’s operating system has the latest patch and apply the patch, if necessary.

    Patch information for the supported operating systems can be found at the following URLs:

  • If you have an existing installation of Operations Center server, back up all .ini properties files in the config and template directories.

  • Make sure you have the following information available:

    • Operations Center server’s IP address in dotted decimal format

    • Operations Center server’s TCP/IP hostname

    • Web server port number

    • Web server port number for secure socket layer (SSL)

    • Operations Center license key file location

    • Account information to log in to the host machine as root (UNIX) or administrator (Windows)
