4.2 Bluetooth eSec

The Bluetooth eSec method allows you to authenticate with wireless technology using any Bluetooth supported mobile device within a short range. When you initiate authentication, the Advanced Authentication Server detects the enrolled Bluetooth device within the define range. If the enrolled device is available, you are authenticated successfully.

NOTE:To use the Bluetooth eSec method for authentication, you must install the Advanced Authentication Device Service. For more information about Device Service, see Advanced Authentication - Device Service Guide.

To authenticate using the Bluetooth eSec method, perform the following steps:

  1. Ensure that Bluetooth is turned on in your device and is discoverable to the paired devices.

  2. The device service detects your enrolled Bluetooth device and authenticates it.

If the enrolled Bluetooth device is within the range, the Bluetooth authentication is successful.

    NOTE:

    • If the administrator has set the Required paired device (more secure) option to ON for the Bluetooth eSec method then you must authenticate to the Windows machine with only paired devices.

    • If the administrator has set Enable reaction on device removal option to ON for Bluetooth eSec method then the operating system automatically locks, if one of the following is true:

      • The Bluetooth device is disabled.

      • The Bluetooth device is out of range.
